Oh DEAR it's back!!
[i]The BBC has named the five acts hoping to represent the UK at the 2005 Eurovision Song Contest.
Already earlier today, Radio 1 had named Katie Price (former glamour model Jordan) and 1996 Eurovision star Gina G. The list also includes Andy Scott Lee, Javine, and three piece operatic ‘boy band’ Tricolore.
UK viewers were introduced to the performers during Top of The Pops. The UK national final will be presented by Terry Wogan and Natasha Kaplinsky on 5 March. The show will be webcast as in 2002, but for the first time Internet viewers across the world will be able to vote.
Katie Price commented, "I'm always surprising people, so I don't think there will be any change there, and as I always say - never underestimate the Pricey!".
Gina G said, "For about 3 years I had been thinking about the concept of representing Britain again in Eurovision. I had always had a lot of pressure from fans to do it again; as we all agree "we was robbed". So this year I thought, I wonder if the BBC would be interested. The amazing thing was, just as I was thinking about contacting them, they contacted me. I nearly fell over! They asked me to compete in Making Your Mind Up...now all I have to do is win it."
Simon Proctor of the BBC said, “The format will be similar to last year's MYMU with some tweaks - as it was our first year - some of our ideas worked better than others, so some we will work on. We did some Research after MYMU'04 which was interesting and viewers seemed to like the elements of the show which reflect the Contest format, such as the voting, so we will aim to include more of those where we can. We've had some suggestions from fans, 'Vision' magazine and OGAE which obviously we will factor in as well.â€
As much as I hate the woman, I say Jordan simply because I think she has quite a high profile and might get us some points. Plus I think it would be hillarious.
But I loved Gina G when she did it before! Oh, I was so young, so naive...
