Right now Melanie has 59784 'fans' on facebook and 144791 followers on twitter. IMO if we start up a facebook event we also have to create a twitter account (and get a RT from melaniecmusic

).

Great ideas on the FB/Twitter thing, does anyone feel like starting those pages up (early starting gives us time to aquire some followers to kick the thing off propperly. It'll be strength in numbers on this one, so the more the merrier!

I'm rubbish at that :oops:

so it'd be better to leave the starting and maintaining of such accounts to a more talented person :lol:

Also we could get the word out/fans mobilised easily if it just pops up on their walls/timelines

then we wouldn't be depending on their visits to the board, it is SUCH a good idea!!! Thank you

It may also be worth getting some of the fan groups on Facebook involved. The biggest issue with this kind of campaign is that it will rely on a high volume of people taking part. If only 3 people do it, it will get ignored. We need to get as many people on board as poss if it stands a chance.

If it is planned to all happen at a particular time, perhaps it is worth giving it a name too, like something for it to trend with. #MelanieCRadioTakeover (that was just off the top of my head). This would also prevent it just looking like spam because it is all for a 'campaign cause' if that makes sense.

Well, before we start creating pages and twitter accounts we need to think of a name for the campaign.

I can create a page and subsequent event pages for it pretty easily so I don't mind doing that. Once we have a name for it, we can start moving forward. I will keep my original suggestion of Melanie C Radio Takeover have you guys got any ideas on names?

Like I say, we also need to decide WHEN we are going to hit the radio stations. Personally, I feel we need to wait until we have a very large following of supporters and also we should time it right with something that Melanie C is doing herself, probably a single release. That way, the campaign will be more noticeable and may, just may, pick up some media attention (don't hold your breath though :-P

)

So initially this will run like any other fan page, until it is decided that we create an event date which will be when the Radio-Takeover begins...

The name is perfect with me for a hashtag/campaign title, but for the twitter/FB accounts a more generic name might be preferable, that way we can use it to inform our backers of other campaigns too, without te need to get em all to follow/like yet another profile.

I'm lame at this stuff, I come up with things like "Melanies Fablicity" (for fan-generated publicity) which is probably far, far over the top...

Starting the take-over a day or so before a new single would be ideal probably... Provided we'd have a good amount of participants so we'd at least get noticed.

I can assist with the Facebook page also! I think Melanie C Radio Takeover is straight to the point and a great name for the campaign! I posted on Melanie's FB page, informing people about what we want to do and invited them to this thread, so fingers crossed!

I had another idea, not exactly publicity wise, but more like; MOAR MELANIE! (Which in theory is a good idea!)

Crowdsourced touring; Say someone wants a Melanie concert in Anchorage, Alaska or in Wherethehell, Siberia for all I care... They find an apropriate venue to buy out and add all the costs to the amount of money it'll take to get Melanie over there with her crew/band/stuff and start a http://www.kickstarter.com/ fundraiser. People who wanna come to the concert don't buy a ticket, but instead they pledge to pay part of the cost. If the goal is not met, no one pays and nothing happens, if it does work out; INSTANT MELANIE GIG!!!

The minimum pledge for attendance would of course need to cover enough of the costs to not sell out the venue before the bill is covered... But in theory it could work...

Not something an inexperienced person should pull of though :-(

you'd need someone who knows what they're doing with regards to organising such an event... There lies the big catch.

Just some insane thing I thought up while on tour, mind you, I didn't see a bed for over 50 hours at a time twice during that thing so my mind was in an even more crazy corner than usual, forgive me my insanity XD (But if the insane thing is a good idea you better speak up as it increases the chance of something coming of it LoL)

I feel really bad for not doing anything miss-psycho-cheerleader-ish for this but of course Murphy's law dictates that I'm in the middle of moving house without a car and without much help JUST when something new comes out :oops:
