With the fifth album speeding towards us (or so I like to tell myself...), 'Blood Brothers' will soon seem like an age ago. I thought it'd be nice to share some favourite 'moments' of seeing Melanie during her time in the West End and in Liverpool.
To stop me writing an essay, I'll bullet point five of my highlights.
1. Melanie's opening night in the West End. Nervous shaking as a fan to a jubilant smile come 'Bright New Day'. What a proud moment.
2. Melanie's entrance to every performance. One by one the cast enter the stage but seeing the silhouette of Miss C and the 'starry' music that accompanied it was simply magical every time. Heart palpitations? Perhaps.
3. At the end of the performance hearing people who had not heard Melanie sing before (or act) saying they thought she was fantastic. Other than at a festival, you expect these comments at a tour of an artist. People have paid to see them, but hearing people say it who may not have come to just see Melanie was a buzz.
4. Hearing Melanie sing 'Light Romance' during her final performance in Liverpool this November. Always my favourite song from the show, but I thought it was the most soulful performance I'd seen from Melanie of it.
5. Seeing Melanie with tears streaming down her face as she sang 'Tell Me...' on her final night in the West End.
Gotta say I saw it a few times in london... Opening night in London you could just see and feel the relief of getting through it all wash off her, the tears were just non stop!
ALthough I asked Viv about this in my interview with her, the knife scene, first half of the run Melanie picked it up and shood Mrs Lyons away but the second half of her run it was thrown off stage through the Johnstone door.
Viv said it wasn't a change in direction but in the liverpool run the Knife ended up being used how it was originally.. picked up to Shoo lyons away.... hmmmmm MYSTERY!!

I wish I could've seen her in West End or Liverpool, but I was as nervious as all of you people who attended it, I was so nervious, but the little things I've seen from BB, she was magnificent!! her voice, her acting, and the critics confirm it. I'm so happy and proud of Melanie!!!
It was announced today that Blood Brothers will close in the West End after over 24 years. Last show on 27th October. Thank-you to Melanie C fans for helping to keep the show running .
